The Fireball Combination Square Blade comes in a unique finish and graduation marking scheme. Our finish is a titanium nitride coating which gives it a gold color that provides great reading contrast. This is the same gold finish used on drill bits which is both extremely durable and scratch resistant.
We call our layout the F2R marking style. It features 1/8 and 1/16 on both the front and the back side, with all numbers starting at 0 on the same end of the blade.
This means top markings and bottom markings mirror each other so that "1 inch" on the top row is also "1 inch" on the bottom row.
The PEC Tool blades feature a 4R marking system which features 1/8 and 1/16 on the front, and 1/32 and 1/64 on the back.
The top and bottom markings on both the front and back also start at different ends, so the "1 inch" mark on the bottom line will read "11 inches" on the top line.
